The big bad wolf wants to find love!

Dating is hard - especially when you're a werewolf!

You've finally scored dinner with your crush: remember to stay calm, make eye contact, engage in the conversation... and make sure to brew anti-lycanthropy potions to keep yourself from transforming.

All the Better to Date You With! is a casual Warioware-like-adjacent-kinda-thing about hiding part of yourself, and the desire to finally step into the light.

Created in 2 weeks as part of Pirate Software - Game Jam 15.

Controls: Use your mouse to control all minigames.

I can not seem understand the controls for the "follow eye movement" and "what is your favorite thing to eat" type of minigames.

I click and hold with the mouse on the screen but it does not seem to react. I am using Google Chrome / Edge and have disabled plugins. Can you tell me exactly how to play those minigames? Do I have to click somewhere else?

You need to start clicking after the minigame starts. I had trouble with the "question" minigame too and this worked for me.

Thanks, but it still doesn't work for me... The game does not react to my input whatsoever.

I have tried: Clicking (spamming), Clicking and holding and drag and drop. And all that after the minigame starts and also before the minigame starts. I have tried the game in the Google Chrome browser with adblock disabled, in the Opera browser and  in the Edge browser. But to no avail... I can only play the match-3  game on the right side without issues but the rest on the left side does not react to any of my mouse input...

Absolutely adorable.

The pixel art and characters are SO CUUUUUUUUTE! The story is as well! I loved the game! The gameplay was such a nice balance of fun and difficult and funny, and while I've had trouble understanding the controls for other games in the game jam, the simple minigames were introduced in a way that made it easy to understand exactly what to do with them. And the music is so nice as well!

The game is just so well polished, and I would not be surprised if this was one of the top games chosen by the judges! Loved the ending too :) SO CUTE

(+1)

Super cute ending.  Loved it!

10/10 love this game. I manage to replicate the technique in real life and rizz the red riding hood as well. Very cool 👍

Super fun, and super cute. xD I really loved the mix of different mechanics. Looking at it I wasn't sure how it would all come together but playing it felt smooth and fun without one part overwhelming another.

I found myself letting out an anxious breath with the MC between every round. I did struggle a bit with the board for question answers, but tbh despite my repeated failures, I too believe that barking is a respectable talent and that Fetch should have higher IGN scores.

Great job everyone!! <3

VERY cute, ngl

Oh man the art, the style, the theme the interpretations of mental health and anxiety. This game has it all!

So I'm gonna get the bad out of the way first and then gush with praise after. Mostly minor things but some were kinda irritating.

I don't know if I missed the explanation or not but I had no idea you could freely move the tiles around even if they didn't match. There were a couple of times where I had no matching swipes and I failed because I wasn't aware I could do that.

The hold and drag mechanic with the little sideways peggle board was really cool but the input didn't seem to take if you were holding the mouse button prior to the guide image disappearing, so it just didn't work for me until I figured that out. There was also 1 time where it just randomly got stuck on the peg on the bottom and it would NOT move.

Finally the stop shaking prompt/minigame. It gets kinda confusing with the left and right button prompts being the same colour. Maybe that was intended by design but if they were a different colour for left and right click it would have been easier to read.

Anyways I know that seems like a lot but it's all very minor issues.

WOW this game is just fantastic all over. The art from start to finish was brilliant perfect gorgeous. The characters look great and are so well drawn the little cut-scenes and character portraits were great. And the UI design (with the exception of the previously mentioned issues) was absolutely spot on across the board.

The audio and music was great it felt like it really fit the tone of the environment and there were no sound issues or SFX that felt out of place, it felt really well matched entirety.

The gameplay mix between the match game and staving off anxiety attacks / shaking / intrusive thoughts / answering your dates questions was just genius. It struck the perfect balance between "OH GOD WHAT DO I ANSWER" and "OH GOD I NEED TO MATCH THESE THINGS". It was stressful enough to be exciting and fun without going overboard and stressing me out.

Story was fantastic, ending was great. Not going to spoil it if anyone is reading this. Go play it for yourself.

yooooo we got a Signature Ecks Review (tm)!!

thanks so much for playing - this is great feedback! (coloring the left/right buttons differently is such an obvious + low effort:reward ratio change, we're surprised we didn't think of it earlier! i think we got too good at our own game and missed a couple things lol)

(+1)

A signature Ecks review? Hahaha what does that even mean?

Seriously though I loved the game and anything I mentioned was super minor and not that much of an issue :)

(+1)

oh i just saw a bunch of people asking you for reviews in the discord haha

thank you so much for taking the time to play through and review it, we really appreciate it!!

Thanks so much for all the kind words!! Go glad you checked out our humble wee game.

Very adorable game! I love the graphics and as well the music in this game! I guess someone already commented this one, but I also have the same issue with the question. Maybe a fall a ball into a hole, like a tilt-a-maze/super monkey ball or something would be better.

Overall, still very fun! I also did a 1CC/Continueless gameplay, which I got really lucky on recording it first try.(Unfortunate sharing the vid shows like a blocked page or something instead, so I can't share directly.) Also, apologies on the quality.

thanks for your feedback, and thanks for playing!! SO cool that you did a playthrough video - we really appreciate it!

(+1)

Thanks so much for the kind words!

(+1)

This is such an awesome game! It took me a couple tries to really get what's going on but the art and mechanics felt really clean! Fantastic job!

(+1)

Thanks so much for playing!!

Yo why is the main menu theme an actual banger. I love that the howls and giggles are mixed in. Visionary.

Figuring out how the "click and hold up or down" mouse minigame worked took me a few tries but I eventually got it! I think that's definitely the hardest part of the game LOL

The match-3 minigame is so smooth and satisfying I would genuinely have played this even without all the narrative elements and amazing art. I like how you don't have to get a match with each move either; you can just move the tiles over however you'd like.

The eye contact mini game was so funny and I really enjoyed it every time it came up. Stardew Valley fishing minigame prepared me for this.

I would love to know more about these two characters!!

Also, my opinion on Kant's Categorical Imperative: Benjamin Constant's "Man with the Axe" argument would like to have a word.

Pictured below: my actual reactions to the final cutscene

Hahaha this is the best reply ever. Thanks so much for your kind words and so glad you enjoyed it!!

Very great artstyle and gameplay! I love it. Though i couldn't get past level 3 cuz even when i focused on the match 3 i couldn't stop the potion from overheating. But great game!

Thank you for playing!!

(+2)

This was a lot of fun! Only feedback (which may or may not just be a skill issue on my part) is that the pachinko/questoin answer minigame felt a lot harder/more random than the other games. I was able to master all the other ones but that one still got me like 30-40% of the time. Great work though!

(+2)

haha yeah I think we all got really good at it while playtesting and didn't notice the difficulty LOL. Thank you for playing, and for your feedback!

(+2)

What a cute game!! I love the unique match-3 style and mini-games that you have to play in order to beat the levels, and the ending was super cute <3! I loved the ending music as well asdfghjk it's so peaceful. And ofc, the art is gorgeous !!!! Awesome work :D

omg thank you for your kind words!!
